Inspection
Focus inspection on piping, seams and pocket folds. If luggage was kept open, bed bugs may also be under linings inside the luggage. (Learn more about inspection).
Preferred Control Method
Isolation
Store inside an airtight plastic bag or bin for six months. (Learn more about isolation).
Heat
Hair dryer and space heating. Use in-room hair dryer to heat seams and folds before packing and leaving. (Learn more about hand wash).
Other Control Options
Vacuum
Use the crevice tool to vacuum all parts of the luggage. This technique can be used in combination with the hair dryer to flush bed bugs. (Learn more about vacuuming).
Steam
Be sure luggage is dry before closing and storing. (Learn more about steam).
