Inspection
Inspections are difficult due to the number of hiding spaces within the device, but it is worth looking for fecal stains and live bugs to confirm the need for treatment. (Learn more about inspection)
Other Control Options
Hand Wash
Unplug device, then wash the exterior and removable parts where possible. Do not wash any electronic parts. (Learn more about hand wash).
Vacuum
Use of a vacuum alone may not be sufficient to eliminate bed bugs, but used in combination with a hair dryer can reduce the number of mobile bed bugs. (Learn more about vacuuming).
Heat
Hair dryer or space heating. Blow hot air into cracks and crevices to flush bed bugs, and use the crevice tool on a vacuum cleaner to suck them up. Check the owner’s manual or call the manufacturer to confirm that the unit can withstand heat. (Learn more about heat).
Freeze
Some companies offer Cryonite treatment (CO2 gas). This is recommended for electronics, like a CPAP system. (Learn more about freezing).
Not Recommended - Isolation (impractical for a device needed daily), Steam, Desiccant dust
