Inspection
Bed bugs are most likely to be found in the protective cover or the book binding. Inspect suspect books over a white sheet or in the bathtub, with a vacuum ready and waiting. (Learn more about inspection)
Preferred Control Method
Isolation
Store inside an airtight plastic bag or bin for six months. (Learn more about isolation)
Discard
If items can be stored in airtight plastic bags or bins, cardboard boxes should be discarded in an outdoor trash receptacle.
Other Control Options
Vacuum
Remove and vacuum protective covering and book binding. (Learn more about vacuuming).
Heat
Hair dryer or space heating. Remove protective covering and point hair dryer into binding; combine with vacuuming. (Learn more about heat).
Not Recommended - Hand wash, Steam, Freeze, Desiccant dust
